First of all, this post is here because #1. I`m a huge Conan fan, and #2. Because last week on 22 of January we were commemorating 100 years of Conan adventures.

The news is that there will be a new movie with my favourite barbarian. This is the good part, I`m happy because the Conan franchise has so much potential.
Warner Bros. Production President Jeff Robinov says a new Conan live action feature film is in the works and that the studio "is committed to producing the film this year." Warners, having revived franchises with Batman Begins and the upcoming Superman Returns, intends to produce Conan with a big budget. According to sources, Robinov is going back to the original Robert E. Howard stories for inspiration.

The bad news is that rummors said that Robert Rodriguez will be the producer of this film. AND THIS SUX ASS! :(( I appreciate Rodriguez, but he is NOT the man to make Conan!

A different sequel, King Conan: Crown of Iron, was in development for years under original Conan the Barbarian writer and director John Milius, but never came together. Arnold Schwarzenegger was to be an older King Conan, and the movie would have been directed by the Wackovski Brothers... and it is sad because this never happened :(((

There is no way to equal the original Conan the Barbarian, and this is not just because of the film but also because of the music of the film, one of the best ever created, a masterpiece composed by Basil Poledouris. The poor sequel Conan the Distroyer (and Red Sonja) were done just for the money, and they are crap, sux bigtime.

Anyway.. the first animated "Conan" movie, "Conan: Red Nails" is also in production, and set for summer 2006 release by New Line Home Entertainment, and a MMORPG is in production by FunCom: Age of Conan.

No drawing here, just a picture from a bar i was last weekend in Bucharest, where i met with two friends, talented artists, Dariz and Oblio, both UbiSoft slaves (hehehe!) We just sat there at a few drinks and draw sketches of everything like... "the evil bell final level boss" or "the magic flying cart" :)) Anyway it was fun, and i liked the bar alot - Embrio is its name, great place, great music, great atmosphere.

Historical Fiction
Lord George Henry Fredrickson. Mid to late 1800's. Lord Fredrickson is a Lich hunter & Master of the Occult of some quiet acclaim in certain discerning circles. By nature he is a reserved man, brutally intelligent, quick in thought and often in action, but never reckless.

Cursed more than a century ago by an Egyptian Lich, Lord Fredrickson walks the twilight between the true light of life and the enternal darkness of death. He can not die, though he can not really live either.

With each Lich Lord Fredrickson dispatches, he desperately searchers for a counter curse to his affliction, but none have been found, much to his continued frustration. Over the past few decades, his searches have turned more desperate, as madness is slowly claiming him. In his more lucid moments, he fears for those he cares for, but holds little hope of chaging his fortunes. Isabelle, his wife, has been instructed in the art of horcrux destruction, and how to kill a Lich, but as Lord Fredrickson has no known horcrux, it is feared that all efforts will be futile.

This painting got 4 stars out of 5 on CG Society!

Shards of Asgard - plane concept

I did this color concept for a small animation movie called Shards of Asgard, depicting the beginning of Ragnarok (the Apocalipse in Norse Mythology). Was a little challange to do the color because there was no real source of light with no moon and no sun.. only the epic battle in the sky. The original drawing concept was done by a friend of mine, Mates Laurentiu (Avatar), the lead 2D artist of the project.

First of all, NO, i did NOT participate at this challenge, don't ask why.

This challenge didn't held a public vote as usual, this time there was jury of famous and respected digital artists. Alas, they didn't get my respect on this one. I am mad because from the huge amount of artworks submited, they picked up as a winner a piece which is not bad, but average to others!!!! This is outrageous!! There were a whole bunch of other artworks by more greater than the winner they choosed. And this SUX! >_<

These are NOT done by me! Wish i did.. tho` :) Why i`ve put these here then? Well, these artworks are by far ones of the best pieces of game concept-art i have ever seen! And i have seen alot. There is a bit of everything from environments, to characters, to marketing illustrations...

It is interesting that most of them were modelled first in Max7 using polytools, to facilitate the process of having to do more than one illustration per environment and make sure the scales and proportions were the same, then beautifully crafted using Photoshop and Painter. Other than that.... amazing work! When i`ll draw like this, you can find me at Blizzard! :D

This is a little odd, because i did this painting this summer and i submitted to the DeviantArt gallery... but only now was discovered by Vogonjeltz and suggested to Silentkitty who did a wonderful job and posted it in the first page of DeviantArt! Now this is something you don`t see everyday... starting from the idea that "the perfect form" does not exist, Nokia created the 888 model, a groundbreaking mobile communication device, which practically you can change its form according to your need, you can roll it, bend it, put on your clothes like a clip etc. It uses liquid battery, speech recognition, flexible touch screen, touch sensitive body cover which lets it understand and adjust to the environment. Hmm, i wonder how much will this toy cost.... anyway, it is for sure the next step in mobile communication technology. Santa, you hear me?! :)

I did this comic strip for the christmas edition of the Sanki fanzine. All done digital in Photoshop, didn`t have my scanner home... and, well, i kinda like it :) There was a plan to put some text too, but it looks better this way.
The background story is that this guy in black passes by those two lovers and thinks that those two doesn`t really like each other but they stay together just for the sake of it, just for the carnal pleasure.. and while he is distracted by his thoughts he passes by a beautiful girl. The girl notice that they have the same tastes in music (both listen to nine inch nails), but he didn`t notice her...

I was watching the European Music Awards at MTV last night... well, nothing unusual, until Gorillaz got on the stage, erm... sort of. I was quite amazed to see that infact a cartoon walked to the microphone and started singing... and then the rest of the band showed up! Damn, they were looking so real! Astonishing stuff!
The Gorillaz were looking like 3D holograms but actually they were only smoke and mirrors... what a great idea!

“Our Gorillaz aren’t holograms because holographic technology isn’t quite up to what we need. It is digital animation projected on special transparent foil in a way that appears holographic.”

Hehe, i found some old but absolutely GREAT comics, i laughed my brains out! (hehe, new expresion, i know) I recomand those comics to anywone: Johnny The Homicidal Maniac by Jhonen Vasquez! Great comics, 7 volumes, hahahaha, see? I`m still laughin`! Anyway, that ispired me to do something i long intended to, but never really tried; well here it is now, my new comic strip character, after WIZ and NSC, i present you TARD!
